Led the initial client interview, programming, and schematic design. Presented a comparative analysis of substantial remodel versus scrape and rebuild, then redesigned the project when the client elected to scrape.
Managed a multi-party client relationship in which the party approving funding was separate from the party the home was being designed for, requiring the design to demonstrate its value clearly to both.
Sited the home on a remote, steep, rocky parcel to capture two specific views. Recommended an ADU placement that preserves those view corridors while keeping the building close to the main house and maintaining privacy between the two. The ADU accommodates a dual program: guest quarters for visiting parents and dedicated space for the client's therapy practice.

Schematic design utilizing more than 50% of the existing foundation.
The floor plan is organized to maximize opportunities to frame the client's favorite view: the valley, trees, and rock face to the south.
Original schematic design drawn for a remodel and addition, in collaboration with Michael Perez. Much of the existing main level remains as is, with an added bedroom, entryway, and stair that help establish distinct private and public zones.
The upper floor plan addresses an existing step in the floor by relocating it to an intentional position that further defines the private and public zones. An oversized great room becomes a study and den alongside the great room, and an addition creates kitchen and dining space suited to the client's needs.
Recladding the exterior in fire-resistant materials adds visual variation and creates a stronger front facade with a clear, defined entrance, which the original home distinctly lacked.
The south-facing elevation uses a varied material palette to visually divide the three-story facade.
In collaboration with the builder and client, we evaluated several locations for the accessory dwelling unit, weighing topography, access, and views alongside privacy between the house and the ADU.
